Description
Tiger Eye
Tiger Eye is a beautiful variety of Quartz, best known for its silky luster and distinctive moving band of light. This optical phenomenon, known as Chatoyancy, creates an appearance reminiscent of a tiger’s eye.
Tiger Eye is commonly found in shades of golden yellow, brown, and reddish brown. Its characteristic silky appearance and chatoyant effect are associated with its fibrous structure and the presence of altered fibrous inclusions that were replaced by silica during the formation of the stone.
With a hardness of approximately 6.5 to 7 on the Mohs scale, Tiger Eye offers good durability and is widely used in jewelry, particularly rings, necklaces, bracelets, and pendants.
Tiger Eye occurs in various parts of the world, with notable sources including South Africa, Australia, India, Brazil, and the United States.
In traditional beliefs, Tiger Eye is associated with confidence, courage, focus, and protection. These associations are part of cultural and traditional beliefs and are not scientifically proven.
